IPSA Grows 21st Annual Conference Attendance

Annual Conference Program and Speakers called fantastic

OMAHA, NE - The Independent Professional Seed Association (IPSA) saw attendance grow by more than 10 percent at the Association's 21st Annual Conference and Trade Show, January 19-21 in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Nearly 300 people registered and attended the program, which featured outstanding keynote speakers on a variety of relevant topics.  "IPSA continues to set the bar higher with each Conference, making this one of the seed industry's most anticipated annual events" commented outgoing IPSA President Lou Schweigert, Gro Alliance, Cuba City, Wisconsin.

IPSA developed and executed an aggressive plan to provide key programs, delivered by outstanding speakers, and to promote the program early to potential attendees.  IPSA's Business Development Committee provided insight and support throughout this process.  First Vice President David Hingst with Hoegemeyer Hybrids in Hooper, Nebraska, served as Chairman of the planning committee and offered this assessment: "This year's Planning Committee initiated several new programs for 2010 that appear to have enhanced attendance and participation.  I am already looking forward to 2011."

IPSA also awarded its 2009 Industry Service Award to Bill Latham with Latham Seeds, Alexander, Iowa.  Bill was recognized for his service to agriculture and to IPSA, having been a two-term Board member and Past President.  IPSA CEO Greg Ruehle stated "Bill Latham and the Latham family embody the heart and soul of independent seed businesses across North America.  This award is a small way for IPSA to recognize Bill's commitment and efforts on behalf of independent seedsmen."

The Independent Professional Seed Association (IPSA) was formed in 1989 by a group of independent seed producers who recognized the need for an organization to represent independent seed companies world-wide.  The Association addresses research and biotechnology issues and increases the media presence of the industry in an increasingly competitive and dynamic business climate.  IPSA represents nearly 100 seed companies from 20 states and Canada, who produce nearly 20 percent of the corn, soybeans, small grain and forage seeds marketed annually.
