TOTAL TRACTOR SALES UP, COMBINE SALES EVEN FOR THE YEAR

According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers' monthly "Flash Report," the sales of all tractors in the U.S. for July 2010 were down 3.4% compared to the same month last year.

For the year 2010, a total of 101,238 tractors were sold, which compares to 99,698 sold through July 2009.

For the month, two-wheel-drive smaller tractors (Under 40 HP) were down 5.4%, and 40 & under 100 HP were up 3.1%. Sales of two-wheel-drive 100+ HP were down 11.2% from last year, and four-wheel-drive tractors were down 1.7% for the month.

For the year 2010, two-wheel drive smaller tractors (Under 40 HP) were up 4.5% from last year, while 40 & under 100 HP were down 6.5%. Sales of two-wheel drive 100+ HP were up 5.2%, while four-wheel-drive tractors were up 19.3% for the year.

Combine sales were up 4.1% for the month. Sales of combines for the year 2010 totaled 5,009, even with the same period in 2009.
