Leader's Letter

"All good things, they say, must come to an end."

All good things, they say, must come to an end.  For me, that means my term as IPSA President will conclude with the 23rd IPSA Annual Conference coming up January 17-19.  I hope you have already made your arrangements to visit my home state of Indiana.  Indianapolis is rolling out the red carpet for us (and perhaps, for the Super Bowl as well).  As a bonus, GreenLeaf Genetics will again present their Winterfest Meeting at the same location, starting on the 16th.

Our agenda includes breakout sessions that you can tailor to your company's most pressing needs:  Seed Corn Supply Strategies, Social Media, Estate Planning, Using On-Farm Data, Managing Stewardship Agreements, Communicating With Your Customers, Upping your Sales Professionalism, Tax Law Changes, Global Seed Industry.

Please accept our invitation to attend the Welcome Reception Tuesday at 6:00.  The evenings have been left free to visit the number of outstanding restaurants in downtown Indianapolis.  (You can access a complete list at www.indydt.com).

With 37 years of experience in this industry, my best advice to my fellow seedsmen is to sign up for one of the IPSA Committees.  Most meetings are conducted by conference call these days, so they are convenient and not so time consuming.  You will have the occasion to meet new people in similar situations.  While nobody has ever confused me with a more sociable sort, the networking opportunities have enhanced my business, and enriched me personally.  I encourage you to contact Greg Ruehle and offer to join one of the IPSA committees.  You won't regret it.
